HEALTHCARE CENTER. CASTELO DE VIDE 2025 - ON GOING

Located next to the old town walls of Castelo de Vide, the medical center project stems from a respect for existing heritage and the memory of the place. The presence of the wall, a classified and protected element, guides the entire intervention, leading to a restrained and discreet architecture.

The building is mostly developed underground, taking advantage of the natural slope of the land and preserving the existing street profile. This option allows for careful integration into the urban fabric, making the new construction almost invisible in the landscape.

To ensure adequate lighting and comfort, the program is organized around a central cloister. This space, in addition to structuring the building, establishes a clear reference to the cloister of the Convent of São Francisco, evoking a conventual dimension that reinforces the relationship between the new construction and the surrounding historical context.

The project thus seeks to reconcile functionality and heritage sensitivity, proposing a silent architecture without imposing itself on the territory.
